The 44th Mayfair-Holmesburg Thanksgiving Parade took place on Sunday on Frankford Avenue, from Rhawn Street to Knorr Street.

Pat’s Music Center was the grand marshal.

Santa and Mrs. Claus arrived on the Ladder 20 fire truck, and their elves collected Christmas letters.

There were performances by the Durning, Hegeman and Ferko string bands; Motion N Dance, Pride of Erin School of Dance and Celtic Flame School of Irish Dance; the Boy Scout Troop 226 marching band; Vogt and Moss cheerleaders; and Romeo Delight, a Van Halen tribute band.

The parade also featured costumed characters, motorcyclists, classic cars and appearances by the Swenson Air Force Junior ROTC, state Sen. Tina Tartaglione and city elections commissioner Lisa Deeley.

Meanwhile, the Mayfair Christmas Village and Tree Lighting will take place on Sunday, Dec. 5, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Frankford, Cottman and Ryan avenues. There will be vendors, music and drinks. The event is sponsored by the Mayfair Business Improvement District and Community Development Corporation. ••
